About me:

I am a Mexican - Canadian multidisciplinary artist, focusing on illustration. Most of the time, I'm illustrating children's books, and working on writing my own material as well, such as comics, short visual narratives, and children's books.

I completed my bachelor's degree in The Netherlands, having graduated from Hanzehogeschool Academie Minerva in Design, with a focus on illustration and animation.

I am also autistic, a member of the LGBTQ community, and disabled. My illustrations have been a tool to reflect on several aspects of my own life, from the neurodivergent experience to exploring identity and belonging through art. For my graduation thesis, I worked on an animation centered around the topic of visual storytelling. Dreamweavers is an animation that explores the harmony between us and the natural world around us, and it is a celebration of colour, nature, and change.  Formless shapes turned to animals, clouds taking form, and bodies of water come alive to tell a story without words. Dreamweavers explores change, fluidity, and progression- a theme as present in nature as it is within people. This project was also how I came out as nonbinary, as it helped me share my feelings on change and transition in a visual manner.

In my professional career, I have illustrated several Children’s books, and worked with a Canadian nonprofit focused on Caribou Conservation (CCA) to help aid education through art. The educational material I’ve produced ties my love for zoology and education into my passion for visual arts. I have also written a few of my own titles for Children’s books, ranging from educational to whimsical stories. My goal is to continue to write and illustrate stories, and hopefully connect my young readers to nature and conservation values through kind, heartwarming stories.
